We’ve all had the same argument with our partners, haven’t we? Who gets less sleep? Who’s allowed to gripe and yawn and demand a nap, and who needs to suck it up and watch the kids.
My husband and I have been using our new Tomorrow Sleep mattress for a few weeks now. It’s ah-mazing. It’s a hybrid mattress that uses technology (Yes! Mattress technology!) to track your sleep. I’ve had fitness trackers that tracked my sleep before, but it required a wristband and remembering to push buttons. This technology is seamless. You lay down, you wake up in the morning, you get an email with your sleep score and the play-by-play (or you can check on a handy app).
My husband and I love competing each morning on who had the best sleep. He always wins, by the way. But the real truth is, I win because I get to point back to that truth every time I need a nap. Every time I want a break from the kids. It’s like the hall pass moms have always wanted!
So yes, the technology component is rad. But it’s more than that. Tomorrow Sleep focuses on the entire sleep ecosystem to ensure a better rest. Mattress, sheets, comforter and sleep tracker are all working together to ensure a better night’s sleep. Pssssst. Click here for $100 off from Tomorrow Mattress.
According to Tomorrow Sleep, our body’s temperature needs to drop about two degrees to enter a state of optimal sleep. So what is hybrid mattress technology anyway, and how does it help? The Tomorrow Sleep mattress has three layers 1) Phase Change Material to extract heat from the breathable top layer (ie, to help cool your body down for a deeper sleep); 2) Built-in ventilation to help heat escape; and 3) continuous air flow through a wrapped coil system. It’s the feel of memory foam but without the associated heat capture people often complain about.
So how does the mattress feel? There are two options, medium firm and medium soft. I always opt for firmer, because it feels good for my back and posture, and I have fewer aches in the morning. If you’ve ever tried memory foam, you know exactly how the mattress feels. But as I mentioned above, the difference is technology and for lack of a better description, “climate control.” I mean, right? That’s the best way to describe built-in ventilation and breathability.
My husband loves it too. Which is pretty magical consider we rarely agree on anything. We are also very different sleepers. I’m a tosser and turner by design, he’s a hard and heavy, dead weight kind of guy. The technology keeps the bed from bouncing and vibrating every time I roll from one side to the other, or hop up for my routine potty breaks. And my husband stays sounds asleep. How do we know? He sees it on his sleep tracker!
New technology is always fun, but at the end of the day, it’s all about quality sleep. I love that Tomorrow Sleep gets that and fuses both for the best sleep of our lives. For moms, sleep really can make a difference in our energy, mood, and attitude. It’s hard enough raising little people, let’s not let poor quality sleep be a factor if it doesn’t have to be.
