Knowing that my infant son will be my last child puts a lump in my throat. I catch myself dreading the milestones of first words, first steps, and first laughs, knowing that they will be my last. Right now, my four month old is so close to rolling over, and I hold my breath each time he teeter-totters on his side, but I’m not encouraging it. When it happens, it will happen, but it will be the last time he ever rolls over for the first time! I’m not ready. He’s still my baby.
They’re only little once.
They’re only this precious bundle that fits in my arms so perfectly once. They’re only so tiny, so delicate, so fragile once. With my first child, I couldn’t wait to see him grow and develop. I was eager for these major milestones. But with my youngest, I’m determined to appreciate the perfection of the baby stage and cherish the beauty of it all. I want time to just slow down.
In my effort to embrace this time when my baby is still so small and so deliciously perfect, it seems only fitting to appreciate the adorable clothes available for babies. It’s my last chance, after all!
Inchworm Alley by RV-Designs offers statement pieces for babies ages 0-12 months. Started in Canada by a husband and wife design team after having a baby, the line is a refreshing break from the boring, poor quality, and cheesy onesies at the department story (seriously, if my kids wear one more “Handsome Like Daddy” or “Mommy’s First Mate” shirt, I’m going to lose my mind).
The first time I went to their website, I was taken aback. These are clothes unlike anything I’ve seen. They are unique, gorgeous, and clever. They are designed to be soft and comfortable, and hello! They use zippers over snaps, which anyone who’s changed a diaper at 3 in the morning knows is a godsend. Reading into the background of the product, they are ethically made, designed in Canada and made in India — away from sweatshops, child labor, and toxic chemicals.
When the two cocoons arrived in the mail, I was even more smitten. Made from 100% organic cotton, they are the
softest onesies I’ve ever felt. They are so imaginative and colorful, and they work great for day wear or as pajamas. Since they are made with non-toxic, eco-friendly material, I didn’t bat an eyelash when my son started gnawing away on the sleeve.
I ordered the Picasso and the Mondrian Remix cocoons. I love the vibrant colors and artistic feel. My toddler loves them too, insisting the Picasso onesie is “My shirt! Mine!” Fortunately, Inchworm expects to expand its line to ages 1+ years down the road.
My time for dressing my son up in baby clothes diminishes each and every day. Before long, onesies will turn to soccer jerseys and school uniforms. The exciting “firsts” of rolling over, crawling, and walking will be here before I know it. I can’t slow down time, but I can capture these moments, cherish these moments, and reflect on these moments. After all, they’re only little once.

These are adorable! I love their sophisticated look - Mondrian, what what! I absolutely love my baby’s “first” of pointing. It is such a game changer to help her communicate!
Pointing! Yes. And I’ll never forget when my son signed for the first time. It felt like a communication veil had been lifted!
Ermagosh! That Nebula pattern! I am so all about Nebuka everything right now!
Favorite first was when my son said mama for the first time!

Nailing it, as always, friend. I’m finding myself really focusing during this baby #2 (my last). The funny thing is that I’ve HAD to do all the things I did NOT do with baby #1 and haven’t been wildly interested in those things I did with kiddo numero uno. Now that the gender is different in at odds about how to dress this little guy-and I’m with you-DOWN WITH THE CLOTHES THAT SAY CHEESY THINGS!
This is a great giveaway and a great post. Thanks friend!
I’ve got a 4.5 month old (our first) and I’m most looking forward to our first running race together - either with him in a stroller or maybe his first kid’s 1k. I know that’ll be a long ways off yet but I hope he likes being my running buddy. 😀
Firsts giggles 😀
Those First steps!
So, so cute!! I definitely need to get a few for my daughter. I love the bright colors!
As a mom of 4 ranging from 17 years to 10 months, I find I can’t wait for any of the firsts! I love them all. First smiles, rolling over, crawling, laughing, jumping etc. etc. It’s all so darn cute! I’m really enjoying seeing my older children excited about the baby’s firsts though. They get so happy when she does something new and it’s so cute to see
I loved all the firsts I experienced when I was teaching infants and a nanny, but right now the first I am looking forward to most is the birth of my first child!
