The Challenge: Each month I’ll choose one characteristic I want to
build upon to help me be the best mom I can be. I will determine several goals to help me carve that path, and I’ll report back on my successes and (undoubted) failures, too. In December, my theme is GIVING.
December Goals:
1. Read a relevant, popular book on the subject and start taking action as I read. December Pick: I Like Giving, By Brad Formsma
3. Try one new activity that may help me accomplish my goal. December activity: Volunteer somewhere, or give to a family in need.
4. Determine how I will involve the husband and kids so it’s a family experience, or at least, family benefit. December plan: Adopt a family with my husband and kids, and work together to meet their needs.
Oh my gosh, this is my last month! I can’t believe it’s been a year of the Ultimate Mom Challenge! December seemed only fitting to focus on charity and giving. Sadly, it’s something I do not spend a lot of time on but I would like to change that. I am blessed with so much to be thankful for in my life, it’s important for me to give back too. But, and maybe this sounds strange, it’s a little daunting. The idea of volunteering sounds like a lot of time and a big commitment. And the idea of donating money makes me feel awkward unless I’m familiar with the charity. Sure, I’ve donated money before, and I’ve volunteered before, but I don’t have an organization or foundation that speaks to my heart. I’d like to find something I can put my whole being into. Does one exist? And can I be a more giving, generous person in general? I’m going to try. Tis the season to start, after all.
This month, I am a GIVING mom.
