July - FIT

The Challenge: Each month I’ll choose one characteristic I want to build upon to help me be the best mom I can be. I will determine four goals to help me carve that path, and I’ll report back on my successes and (undoubted) failures, too. In July, my theme is FIT.

July Goals:

1. Read a relevant, popular book on the subject and start taking action as I read. July Pick: The Body Book, by Cameron Diaz

2. Determine one goal I want to achieve by the end of the month. July goal: Lose five pounds. It might not sound like a lot, but I’m only five pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, which is awesome. These final pounds are really stubborn, though, and they are keeping me out of my favorite jeans and shorts. I’m dying to get back into my clothes. A girl can only wear so many leggings and yoga pants, and my husband is running out of jokes for making fun of my mom-tastic fashion sense.

3. Try one new activity that may help me accomplish my goal. July activity: Do the 28-day PIIT Challenge. Have you heard of Blogilates? Cassey Ho is the instructor and she is amazing. You can find her on YouTube and do her free videos there. She kicks serious butt using a combination of Pilates and pop music. Anyway, she offers a (affiliate links) 28 day challenge called the PIIT 28, which stands for Pilates Intensive Interval Training. She provides a 28 day calendar, the videos, and an e-book with everything you need to know. She has a nutritional program you can include as part of your program, too. I AM SO EXCITED. Follow me on Instagram for updates on how the program is going.

4. Determine how I will involve the husband and kids so it’s a family experience, or at least, family benefit. July plan: My husband agreed to join me in my workouts. They’re only 28 minutes, so it’s not a big time commitment. I think he also underestimates how freakin hard Pilates is, so there’s that. Working out with my kids in the vicinity is generally a recipe for disaster, so I think they will sit this month out. I’m going to focus on workouts during naptimes and after bedtime.

Wish me luck, you guys! This month, I am a FIT mom.
